Up to 1831, the medicines were manufactured as pills, powders and in many cases as oitments. The ointment was applied on the patient’s skin and it was massaged untill the active substance entered the body. It took a very long time untill some curative effects were seen. In 1831, the French physician C.G.Pravaz had an ideea: he invented a needle to introduce the medicines directly into the human body. This invention make the medicine’s effect obvious and efficient.
