ABPA CONVENTION PLANNED FOR BARCELONA - from Audrey Balderstone

In August this year nearly 1,700 Seventh-day Adventist lay business and
professional people met in Columbus, Ohio for an ASI (Adventist-Laymen's
Services and Industries) Convention. In the process they raised $2.5 million
to fund international mission projects.

In July 2003 another Convention of Adventist lay business and professional
people will meet, this time in Barcelona, Spain. This Convention will be
much smaller and the offering for Missions will not be so spectacular, but
the commitment of ASI Europe members to the work of God is as strong as that
of their American counterparts.

ASI Europe was established in Paris in 1998 and consists of chapters from
France, Italy, Hungary, Germany, UK, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Spain.
The UK chapter, known as ABPA (Adventist Business and Professionals'
Association), is the largest chapter and was formed in 1983.

The theme of the Barcelona Convention, "Vision Vitality Victory", will be
expounded by GC Sabbath School Secretary Clifford Goldstein, Walter Veith, a
well-known speaker on health, and our own Laurence Turner from Newbold
College. The Convention is open to all Adventist business and professional
people who have an interest in the work of God. It will be held in a large
hotel in the centre of Barcelona from 4 - 6 July 2003 and promises to be a
wonderful time of spiritual refreshing and inspiration for all who attend.
